Busy Bee #33

This took a while. It's a video I did for the Town of Chapel Hill to introduce our department, Communications and Public Affairs, to the Senior Management Team. My task was to illustrate that the new department was formed from two other departments and the website management duties, and to show the other departments that we did indeed do more than just photocopy things and sit around during Council meetings. There were several last-minute changes made long after the script had already been approved and the whole thing had been edited, so that throws off the intended flow a bit, but all in all I think it turned out to be a nice little corporate-style video.

Pardon the couple of scenes with shaky tripod-less video. See above issues.

Finally finished the short movie that was born of Ryan's "Scrambled Video Eggs" project. You can see the final cut of "The Wrath of Grapes" here and the outtakes here. Full story on my main blog here.

Busy Bee #24

Next up we have materials for the final week of Troy Sterling's Air Guitar Madness. I really loved this show and it inspired me to make lotsa stuff. The above "Those About To Rock" image was both an online promo and a mini-poster which we plastered all over the theater. I also had fun making some images for the other Ultimate Air Guitarists, either for the video or just because the original pictures looked so cool and begged to be made into identity screens. You can see the intro video to the show here. Click the below images to see them bigger on Flickr.

I'm totally making myself a Payaso Triste t-shirt. I love that graphic.

Yikes! I've been lax in keeping this up to date the last week. Been doing a lot of projects, which is good. There'll be a couple more updates today to catch up.

First off we have last week's CageMatch stuff. The video is here, the graphics are here (as usual) and more information on my main blog here.

Just a little intro video I cooked up for week 2 of Troy Sterling's Air Guitar Madness.

A nice coupla creative days recently. And there's more going on that won't be completed for a week or two, so stay tuned.

Whups! Forgot to blog on here about last week's CageMatch. And looking back at the recent entries, I've been pretty creatively lax lately.

Check out the video here, and a bunch of new fictional team screens (along with the Skaggs screen) here.

My buddy Nick Faber recorded a song that got stuck in my head and DEMANDED a video be made of it! (That is, the catchiness of the song demanded a video, Nick Faber did not threaten me.) I put this together with Photoshop, Motion, Soundtrack, and Final Cut Pro, and it's composed of antique clip art and heavily manipulated video from Nick's previous videos on YouTube.

Check out my video here.

My, but it's been a busy week! Here's a video promo I made for The Beatbox, from the video session we did at the end of 2007 in Chicago.

Busy Bee #12

There's a lot of individual items in this post, as it took a lot of work to put together this weekend's CageMatch Fiftieth Show Extravaganza. First we have the retrospective video, which turned out quite well, I think. I used Motion for the first time, doing the animated crowd and list of names of competitors sequence. I used a new program I bought called PhotoPresenter to do the stack of all the identity screens. I loved the way the segments turned out for the CageMatch staff, with the Faces Of CageMatch pictures superimposed over the video clips. And it was very cool to see all the "golden moments" strung together. I left some stuff out due to a rush job, but overall I'm pleased with it.

Then there was the actual show promo video, where I did a more involved bit of work in Motion to do the gunshot sequence with the smoking guns held by Flavor Shot (which, in fact, were NOT held by Flavor Shot, as I forgot to bring the guns to the shoot, so they just posed as if they had guns, and I got the Mayor's Aide to pose with the guns later and photoshopped his hands in.). Making fun of Zach Ward's failure to win a CageMatch title in seven tries was amusing. The Panthro morph was well-received, and was made with MorphX. Joe Jones' and Kyle Chorpening's rap to end the video was just fabulous.

And then there's the huge CageMatch 50 poster I made to display in the lobby of the theater during the show. It's 24x36 and turned out great.

CageMatch video for Espionage A Trois vs Flavor Shot. Not fabulous, really. Spent so much time on the poster, didn't have much time to plan the video.

We'll start off the year with a video. Amazon is letting people do video reviews now, where you make a video reviewing a product and then upload it to their site. I made a little two minute clip reviewing the movie The Ten. It was fun using existing footage as source material--all the video is from the movie (except for the action figure, which I had laying around the house) and all the music is from the soundtrack.

You can find the review here.
